Ahhh, the written word - the conveyance of ideas, instructions, authorization (and so on) by means of setting ink to paper. My father (now long since retired) spent his entire career involved in printing. He even owned a "side" business that was a letterpress printing shop. I have very fond memories of sorting metal type into drawers and being in a shop with big (huge to a child) printing presses running. Great spinning flywheels and lots of mechanical action, all to strike a piece of paper with inked metal making up words and images. In many ways, this was simply automated "writing" with the printing press being the "pen."
